Kennerly Construction completes two Solar projects for Douglas County Libraries

Denver, CO - Kennerly Construction has completed two solar projects for Douglas County Libraries.  The first project was the installation of 38 solar tubes at the Philip S. Miller Library in Castle Rock.  The second project was the installation of 8 solar at the Parker Library branch.  The solar tubes were supplied by Solargreen Technologies, which distributes "Solatube" products, a natural sunlight alternative to indoor lighting.  Compared to a typical skylight, the Solatube Tublar Daylights increase the light four times the light intensity in a big-box space.  Patrons and staff at both libraries have complemented the library on the natural colors and the quality of light.  Richard McLain, facilities manager for Douglas County Library, remarks the he expects the solatube Daylights to increase the amount of electricity saved.  Sensors that relay lighting requirements and adjust to the amount of light being distributed by the Solatube Daylights help keep electrical needs to a minimum.  Additionally, the number of fluorescent tubes in each of its overhead fixtures has been reduced from three to one, resulting in a materials savings as well.  Zach Kittrell, Kennerly Construction, was project manager for both projects.
